INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -
Police in Independence are seeking the cold-heated thieves who stole more than $20,000 from a charity and its supporters.
A front loader, a trailer, toolboxes, a public address system and other items were stolen from Kansas City-based Earthriders Trail Association, which builds and maintains hiking and cycling trails in the area. The theft occurred near R.D. Mize and Necessary roads.
"I hope karma catches up with you. It's a volunteer organization," said Todd Posson of ERTA. "You've hurting a lot of people. Lots use those trails."
He said the loss will make it more difficult for the not-for-profit organization to accomplish its efforts.
The theft occurred last Wednesday. A Toro Dingo mini skid-steer machine was stolen. The trailer was manufactured by Eagle Trailer in Lawrence.
