KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
Firefighters are investigating an early morning vacant house fire that spread to a nearby church.
The fire started shortly after 4 a.m. Wednesday at a home located on East Seventh Street at the corner of Prospect Avenue on the city's northeast side.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, fire was showing from the home. A short time after arriving, a second alarm was called.
No injuries were reported in the fire. A custodian, who lives above the church, was able to get out safely.
It's not yet known how much damage there is to the church.
The vacant home had recently been boarded up as a dangerous building. But there is evidence that homeless people had been inside the home. No cause of the fire has been released.
