More than 2 dozen vehicles vandalized at KC business

Posted: Updated:

Imagine pulling into work and catching a vandal in the act of smashing out windows and stealing truck batteries.

That is what happened to Charlie Goth, manager of City Rent A Truck near East 46th Street and Virginia Avenue, about 7 a.m. Monday.

Goth said he ran after the guy and tried to catch him, but he got away.

According to Goth, the vandal hit at least 15 trucks and made off with about 20 batteries causing about $6,000 in damages.

"Right now I don't have time to be frustrated. I got customers I got to take care of. I'll be frustrated later when I see the bill," he said.

Goth said salvage yards usually pay about $7 for a used battery.  Police still haven't arrested anybody.
