Police investigating cause of infant's deadly injuries

Posted: Updated:

Police are investigating how an infant suffered deadly injuries Wednesday afternoon.

Officers were at an apartment complex in the area of East 38th Street and Euclid Avenue putting up crime scene tape about 2:30 p.m.

Police said they received a call about 1:20 p.m. that was "medical in nature." A 3-month-old baby was in need of medical help and neighbors said she was a girl.

The same neighbors said they saw a paramedic rush out of the apartment with the child in his arms. Officials first said the infant suffered critical injuries, but later said she died at the hospital.

Little is known about what led up to the infant getting injured. Police said they do not suspect foul play. Crime scene investigators were seen removing three large bags of items from the home.

Police cleared the scene shortly after 4 p.m.
