The father of a 10-year-old girl who died at a Fairview apartment complex is shedding some light on how she may have died.
On Saturday morning, police said Miranda Crockett died suspiciously at the Kings Garden Apartments on Northeast 207th Avenue.
Police arrested Chandra Rose, who is the girlfriend of Miranda Crockett's father, in connection with the crime, but she is not facing a charge of murder.
Miranda's father, Daniel Crockett, wrote an email to FOX 12, saying Rose was at the apartment with her children that day.
"I know there was an altercation. I know she was soaking wet. I know she drowned," he wrote. "I know Chandra would likely have been asleep that early in the day, and that the kids liked to capitalize on her being hard of hearing. That's all I know for certain. I still haven't seen Miranda since I gave her a hug and kiss goodbye on Friday."
Police have not confirmed Crockett's email and are not sharing many details about the case.
A longtime family friend said he talked to Daniel Crockett on the day his daughter died.
"He didn't know how to say it, that his daughter had passed away," said family friend Edwin Miranda. "And I just couldn't believe it."
Rose is charged with two felony counts of criminal mistreatment and a misdemeanor count of reckless endangerment. Copyright 2012 KPTV (Meredith Corporation). All rights reserved.
