Joseph Scott, 17, died Friday on Mecklin School Road near Truman Road. Scott was a junior at Oak Grove High School.
Sheriff's deputies were called about 3:45 p.m. regarding the crash just north of Oak Grove in unincorporated Jackson County.
When deputies arrived, they were contacted by one of the drivers, a 46-year-old Buckner, MO, man involved in the deadly crash. He said he was heading north on Mecklin School Road, began to crest a hill and noticed a red Pontiac Grand Am in his lane of travel.
