Family escapes harm after car crashes into Grandview home

Posted: Updated:
GRANDVIEW, MO (KCTV) -

It was one of the biggest scares for a Grandview family, as a car barreled through their living room.

Police say the crash happened shortly after 5 p.m. after another couple's fight near East 150th Terrace and Bellaire Avenue.

The family inside the home, including young children, were in the living room when the car hit, just feet from where the car entered.

Witnesses told police that the accident happened as a result of a fight between a man and a woman who live in the area.

The man left in his car and the woman followed in an attempt to get the man to stop, witnesses said. She then rammed the back of his car, and the man lost control and crashed into the house.

Blake Coombs, who was hanging out inside his home at the time of the crash, said at one point he heard the car revving up before it came smashing through.

The family is cleaning up Thursday morning, thankful they escaped without injuries.

"By the grace of God, we all walked out without a scratch on us, and we don't have any idea how anyone's alive from this event. It was crazy," he said.

Coombs said the Red Cross showed up to help his family and put them up in a hotel for the holiday.
