Steady stream of travelers seen at KCI

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

If Thursday is the day of giving thanks, then the day before is the day of seeing long lines, packed flights and filling up your car with gas.

Holiday travelers started making their way to the KCI airport Wednesday morning. The airport saw a steady flow of travelers since about 5 a.m.

For the most part it was good news, but fog in Chicago Wednesday morning delayed and canceled some flights. Two flights leaving Kansas City and one arriving from Chicago were canceled and several others were delayed about noon.

Chicago O'Hare and Midway airports are where the big problem is with more than 180 flights out of Chicago having been canceled and another 677 delayed because of the thick fog. Most of the delays were running about 80 minutes long as visibility was at zero in Chicago.

The airlines are telling travelers that are flying to or through Chicago to expect delays throughout the day.

Most carriers are allowing passengers to rebook at no charge.

Other cities experiencing fog-related problems were St. Louis and Milwaukee and the fog is expected to last well into the afternoon.
