KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Authorities are investigating after a 68-year-old woman drowned in her Northland pool early Wednesday morning.

The Platte County Sheriff's Department rushed to the home located in the 9900 block of Northwest Shaggybark Lane, which is in a neighborhood north of Highway 45 just east of the Northwest Blair Road.

When first responders arrived about 3 a.m., they found the woman in the pool in the home's backyard. She was taken to an area hospital but died just before 6:30 a.m., authorities said.

The woman's 74-year-old husband was home at the time, and he was the one who called 911. Deputies said he did not attempt to go into the pool.

The sheriff's department said they do not suspect foul play and are treating the case as a death investigation. Authorities are not sure if the woman was suffering from any medical conditions.
