Police are investigating a triple shooting Tuesday afternoon.
The crime is actively developing and police are still not commenting on the condition of the victims, but police said three men were shot inside an apartment at the Royal Ridge Apartments at 73rd Street and State Avenue about 3:30 p.m.
Police said it appears to have been a shootout in a communal basement laundry room.
When an officer was on his way to the scene, he saw a fourth man walking down State Avenue with a gun in his waist band. That man was arrested and is being called a possible suspect.
Two victims made their way to a Pizza Hut a mile and a half away near 77th Street and Parallel Parkway where workers there called 911. The third suspect showed up at a hospital.
Police said the shooting happened at a very busy time.
"At that time of day of course you have students getting out of school, you also have a junior college in walking distance. The college went on lockdown immediately and our officers cordoned off the area and immediately searched for suspects or victims to ensure the safety of kids getting out of school," Sgt. Emmett Lockridge said.
The lockdown was lifted before 5 p.m. and residents were able to return to their appropriate apartments.
Police said there could be other victims and other suspects, but the investigation is ongoing.
