TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -
Alabama head coach Nick Saban refuses to even discuss the prospects for Crimson Tide past this week's Iron Bowl.
"I just want to make everybody understand. We're not in any conversations about games except the one we're about to be playing," said Saban at the beginning of his Monday news conference.
Saban says the team will be focusing on the Iron Bowl. Despite Auburn's lackluster season, the coach doesn't downplay this year's game and feels the Crimson Tide should not underestimate the Tigers.
"The Iron Bowl is a big deal. It's a legendary game that people talk about for a long time…" said Saban. "They're traditionally very tough games."
The coach notes that Auburn's quarterback Johnathan Wallace has started the last three games and shown proficiency at both running and passing. Saban also feels that the Auburn special teams may be the best special teams players that Alabama will come across this year.
"We know what kind of games these games are. We need to do the best job we can in preparing for a very good team," said Saban.
The Iron Bowl will be held at Bryant-Denny Stadium this year. Kickoff is set for 2:30p.m.
