Police investigating after off-duty officer fires shots

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Police are investigating after shots were fired in a Northland neighborhood Saturday evening.

The incident happened about 5:30 p.m. at a house on North Mercier, near Northwest 60th Street.

Police said a man heard a fight, stepped outside and saw a man with a gun. The homeowner then exchanged gunfire with the man.

It's unknown if anybody was hurt.

KCTV5's reporting partners at the Kansas City Star report the homeowner was an off-duty police officer.
