KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A man is in custody Tuesday morning after a Northland standoff ended peacefully.

Officers were called about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday to the 4100 block of North Mersington Avenue on a disturbance.

When authorities arrived, they found a woman who had been assaulted by a man she was living with. She informed police that the man was armed and refusing to leave the home.

The standoff ended about 6 a.m. after police say the man exited and surrendered to tactical officers already inside the home. Authorities said weapons were found in the home.

The man, who police say was in his 50s, was taken into custody to be questioned by detectives.

Authorities said the man will likely face assault charges.
