Man dies after fire at Cameron diesel repair shop

Posted: Updated:
CAMERON, MO (KCTV) -

A man died in a fire at a diesel repair shop north of Cameron on Monday.

Firefighters were called about 12:30 p.m. to A1 Mobile Truck and Trailer Repair, located in the 1500 block of Pence Road.

When first responders arrived, a machine type-shed on the property was fully engulfed in flames.

It was reported to authorities at the time of the fire that a person might still be inside the structure.  Firefighters said one person was unable to make it out of the building.

That person's identity has not yet been released.

Someone driving by noticed the smoke at 1520 Pence Road near 69 Highway and called the authorities. Authorities have not said how many people were inside the building when the fire erupted.

The Missouri State Fire Marshal along with local Cameron authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire. Firefighters from four different departments responded to the scene.

Chopper5 video showed investigators probing through the smoldering remains of the demolished building.

Erin Chubick, spokeswoman for the city of Cameron, said the victim's family and friends are in their thoughts and prayers.

"It's sad to know that someone we love and know in our small community was a victim of this fire," Chubick said.
