Five people were injured in a crash that resulted in a mail truck going up in flames, police say.

The wreck happened shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday on eastbound Interstate 70 near Phelps Road, just past Noland Road.

The accident involved a passenger car and a semi truck carrying junk mail.

Two people in the car, reportedly children, went to an hospital with minor injuries, three others were treated at the scene.

The driver of the semi was able to get out of his rig safely before it burst into flames.

All lanes of eastbound I-70 were closed for about two hours.
