LEE'S SUMMIT, MO (KCTV) -

Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire Sunday that heavily damaged a Lee's Summit home.

Crews were called about 8:45 p.m. Sunday to a home in the 800 Block of Northeast Michael Drive after numerous reports of fire coming from the back of the house.

When firefighters arrived, smoke and fire was coming from the upstairs back bedroom of the two-story home.

Everyone in inside the home at the time was about to make it out safely.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control about 30 minutes later.

The fire heavily damaged the upstairs bedroom and a portion of the attic. The remainder of the house sustained heavy heat and smoke damage.
