Dozens of cars and a few houses were all vandalized by shooters, and police say they are on to a duo that has been shooting up neighborhoods.
Formal charges are pending after two 18-year-old men were arrested for shooting at least 30 vehicles and two homes with a BB gun in Bonner Springs. Police said they found a stolen handgun inside the their vehicle.
Police said they are still taking reports about the damage.
Officers said the vandalism started about midnight Thursday, and they have recovered some stolen property taken by the suspects.
Residents in the neighborhoods called police with a description of the suspect's car that led authorities to them.
No injuries were reported.
"My grandson's car got hit. The neighbor down the road got it. This guy next door," Theresa Hernandez said, adding that she was angered by the destruction that included her SUV's back window being shattered. She doesn't live in the area and is only visiting her son and his family and is upset about the costly repairs.
"We really don't need the added financial burden," she said.
Police woke up Kerry Stumbough and her husband to tell them about the crime.
"It was an outrageous amount of damage someone did," Stumbough said. "I don't know what they think is fun about destroying other people's stuff."
