KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Police are investigating after one person died in a two-vehicle wreck in the Northland.

The person was identified as Larry F. Glossip, 68, of Smithville, MO.

The crash happened about 6 a.m. Tuesday on southbound U.S. Highway 169 and Northwest 108th Street, just south of Cookingham Road.

The southbound lanes of the highway were closed briefly after the accident, but one lane of traffic was allowed to get by during rush hour. Normal traffic flow was restored by 8 a.m.

Police initially said the call came in as a car slamming into the back of a tractor-trailer.

Officials said they have found no obvious reasons for why Glossip failed to slow for traffic congestion and the cause remains under investigation.
