One person dead, 2 wounded after overnight shooting

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A 24-year-old man died and another was wounded after a shooting in Kansas City.

Officers arrived on the scene of a shooting about 2:50 a.m. Saturday near Avenida Cesar E. Chavez and Southwest Boulevard.

While investigating the scene, police found Keith L. Johnson dead from gunshot wounds.

Authorities were then notified of a second victim that had already been transported an area hospital. The man was listed Saturday in critical condition.

Police Chief Darryl Forte stopped by the scene and said he is stressing to the community to get engaged and speak out to police if they know anything about this or any other crime in the area.
