2 dead after motorcycle, car collide near Grain Valley

JACKSON COUNTY, MO (KCTV) -

Two men are dead after a collision near Grain Valley.

The deadly accident happened about 11 p.m. Wednesday on Buckner-Tarsney and Truman roads in eastern Jackson County when a car and motorcycle crashed.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said John Guerra, 43, of Blue Springs, was riding a 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he collided with 18-year-old Brian Ostrander.

Authorities say Ostrander, of Oak Grove, was driving a 1983 Pontiac and attempting to turn onto southbound Buckner-Tarsney Road when the motorcycle struck the side of his car.

The car may have failed to yield to the motorcycle, troopers say.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

The intersection reopened about 1:30 a.m. Thursday.
