KCMO police officer charged with insurance fraud

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The Platte County Prosecutor on Friday charged a Kansas City, MO, police officer with a felony of defrauding an insurer.

Kansas City police officer Shawn Oden is charged with felony property damage, for the purpose of defrauding an insurer which is basically insurance fraud.

The Kansas City Police Department said its Fraud Unit detectives investigated the case. Oden has been with the department since May 2007. He worked for the Metro Patrol Division.

He's currently suspended without pay.
