PLATTE COUNTY, MO (KCTV) -

A 25-year-old Smithville woman has died after a head-on crash in Platte County.

Deputies say Ashley Miller died Tuesday after a crash at about 9 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Highway 92 and Second Creek Road, west of Smithville.

The other driver, Logan T. Pope, 17, of Gladstone, is still in the hospital.

Authorities say the teen was driving a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire west on Highway 92 in the eastbound lane, attempting to pass another vehicle when he collided with Miller.

There were no other people in either vehicle.

Miller was transported by a helicopter to an area hospital where she later died.
