Tips sought in Independence woman's 2005 homicide

INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -

Investigators in Independence are hoping for new tips in a murder investigation from 2005.

Tuesday marks the seven year anniversary of the discovery of the body of Lakota R. Renville near 92nd Street and Pitcher Road.

Seven years ago, Lakota Rae Renville's body was found in an illegal dump site on Pitcher Road.  She was stabbed and beaten to death. 

The 22-year-old's body was wrapped in a southwestern style blanket.

Her family is Native American and held a tribal blessing at the site back in 2006.

Family members from North Dakota continue to hope for a resolution to the case and remain in contact with the TIPS Hotline.

Information leading to an arrest in the case could be eligible for up to $1,000 in reward money.
