KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
Police are investigating the death of a baby on the city's northeast side.
The 1-year-old child died Monday in the 3800 block of Morrell Avenue, located one block south of St. John Avenue.
Authorities said the mother of the child went in to check on her son and found him unresponsive on the bed.
The boy was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police said Monday afternoon that they think the boy's death was a tragic accident.
A possibility being looked into is whether the baby got stuck between the mattress and the wall.
Officers have called in crime scene investigators and obtained a search warrant for the home.
Neighbors say there are at least four children who live in the in the home with the parents. The family understandably was too distraught to speak with reporters.
