Boy, 9, on bike struck by vehicle near Olathe middle school

OLATHE, KS (KCTV) -

A 9-year-old boy on a bicycle was injured Monday morning after he was hit by a car near Oregon Trail Middle School.

Police were dispatched about 8:15 a.m. near 1800 W. Dennis Ave. on an injury accident involving a pedestrian.

Officers said the boy was crossing Dennis Avenue on a bicycle and was struck by a vehicle that was traveling east.

The child was wearing a helmet and suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

Police continue to investigate the accident and ask anyone with information to call the Olathe Police Department at 913-971-6950 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
