KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) -
Authorities need help locating two people of interest after they spent nearly 12 hours in a standoff with an accused killer.
Investigators are asking the public's help to find who shot and killed a man about 4 a.m. Sunday in the 2200 block of Garfield Avenue.
The deadly shooting sparked a standoff that lasted until 3 p.m., when officers finally realized the house they had surrounded was empty.
When officers first responded to the shooting call, they found a man shot outside of a home. He was transported to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The identity of the victim was not immediately released.
Sgt. Emmett Lockridge, a spokesman for Kansas City, KS, Police Department, said that information received from witnesses gave police reason to believe that a potential suspect ran into a nearby home.
Lockridge said police established a perimeter around the area and initiated they protocol for a barricaded subject.
After authorities obtained a search warrant, a tactical team entered the home about 11:45 a.m., and more than three hours later, they declared the home empty. The suspect is still at large, police said.
However, police are looking for 27-year-old Sherman B. Judie IV and 29-year-old Devin M. Russell, describing them as people of interest.
Judie is described as 5'11" and 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Russell is described 5'9" and 155 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
