Construction workers hurt after encountering burglars in old hospital

Posted: Updated:

At least two construction workers needed treatment at a Kansas City hospital after they encountered burglars at a closed hospital in Midtown Kansas City.

Police and paramedics responded to the scene at 31st Street and Baltimore Avenue. The workers were rehabbing the building and encountered three men.

The men apparently were burglarizing and the workers called police. Before officers arrived, a fight broke out.

One of the workers was stabbed while a second suffered lacerations on his arms. The suspects tried to run. The construction workers caught two of the three men.

One of the suspects was also taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Police continue to search for the third man.

This occurred before 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
