KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
A 26-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in the slaying of Mack H. Gilbert, who was found shot in the head on Wednesday in a parking lot near 10th Street and Brooklyn Avenue, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced.
Brendon E. Loyd, 26, faces charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
According to court records, witnesses told police that three men confronted the victim in the parking lot of an apartment complex on 11th Street about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday. The youngest of the three stayed behind and shot the victim after he had been knocked to the ground and kicked several times.
The two other men involved in the altercation told police they confronted Gilbert and knocked him to the ground. They walked away and Loyd, they said, shot the victim.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man dead lying on the ground.
