Firefighters rescue woman from well in Merriam

MERRIAM, KS (KCTV) -

Firefighters rescued a woman after she had a scary fall into a well in her own backyard.

The 60-year-old woman was rescued just after 2 p.m. Sunday in the 9800 block of Hocker Drive, just north of Johnson Drive, in Merriam.

The well was filled with 10 feet of water, but firefighters were able to quickly get her out.

The Overland Park Fire Department assisted Merriam firefighters in the rescue.

The woman was taken to an area hospital to be checked out and is expected to be OK.
