LIBERTY, MO (KCTV) -

Dogs can now run free in Liberty, MO.

On Thursday afternoon, city leaders held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Liberty's first off-leash dog park. Residents said this is something the city has needed for some time.

"There's not any other place nearby that has a dog park that's close to us. This space was not being used for anything as far as I knew so it was a perfect spot, and it's close to my home," Liberty dog owner Leslie Bates said.

The dog park is located just southeast of Liberty in Stocksdale Park. It is completely fenced in and free of charge.
