CHILLICOTHE, MO (KCTV) -

Police said a 24-year-old man who they said allegedly had sex with a 10-year-old girl is now in custody.

A lieutenant for the Chillicothe Police Department said sometime around Sept. 21, Zachary Kerns had sex with the young girl.

After an investigation by police, the Livingston County prosecuting attorney released a probable cause statement and a judge issued a warrant on Kerns for first-degree statutory sodomy.

Kerns was arrested and taken into custody at Livingston County jail about 11:35 p.m. Friday.

His bond is set at $100,000 cash.
