KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Clifton Scott would have turned 51 years old earlier this month.

Instead of celebrating a birthday of a remarkable man, his family, co-workers and friends celebrated his life during a funeral Saturday. Scott worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation for 15 years.

Funeral services were held at St. Stephens Baptist Church on Truman Road. He was laid to rest at Mount Moriah Cemetery.

Scott was assisting with traffic control after a serious crash on Interstate 70 near Lee's Summit Road when a local attorney slammed into him, killing him. The attorney, David Murdick of Blue Spring, allegedly had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit.

Murdick pleaded not guilty Friday.

The focus Saturday was Scott's life. Employees honored Scott with a procession of MODOT trucks Saturday. All state flags were flown at half staff.

The support was so overwhelming that Truman Road just east of downtown was closed in front of St. Stephen's Church.

Bond was set at $75,000 for Murdick. He needs to post just 10 percent and would be under house arrest at his residence. He has to have a sobriety meter, according to the conditions set by the judge.
