Adam L. Myers
KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
A Blue Springs man faces assault charges related to a hit-and-run accident Wednesday in Blue Springs that injured a bicyclist, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced the following day.
Adam L. Myers, 20, faces charges of first-degree assault, armed criminal action and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident.
According to court records, Myers was driving a pickup truck on Northwest Kingsridge Drive on Wednesday afternoon when he struck a bicyclist. A Blue Springs officer saw the victim, later identified as 20-year-old James D. Bacus, propelled into the air. When the officer went to check on the victim, Myers left the scene.
Police found Myers and, while being interviewed, he later told police he turned his truck around once he spotted the victim and purposely struck him because he believed Bacus had been accused of molesting a child that Myers knew.
Prosecutors requested a cash bond of $75,000.
