SHAWNEE, KS (KCTV) -

Employees stepped in to stop a woman from robbing a Trek Bicycle Store Thursday afternoon only to find out she had tried to rob a nearby fast-food restaurant a short time earlier.

Shawnee police said officers were called to the Trek store located just off of Shawnee Mission Parkway near Melrose Lane about 2:16 p.m. When officers arrived, they found employees holding down a woman they said tried to rob the place.

Minutes before, police also received a call that a woman tried to rob the Long John Silver's Restaurant located only blocks away on Shawnee Mission Parkway.

Officers took the 41-year-old woman into custody for attempted aggravated robbery. During her arrest, she implied she had a weapon, but police never found one.

The alleged suspect was taken to the Johnson County Jail.
