KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A St. Louis man is accused of shooting at two police officers in downtown Kansas City over the  weekend.

Cahlan Clay, 24, faces two counts of first-degree assault of a law enforcement officer and two counts of armed criminal action.

Prosecutors say just before 3 a.m. Sunday, Clay fired a gun in a parking lot at 15th Street and Grand Boulevard.

Off-duty officers responded to the parking lot and spotted Clay, who fired a round at the officers and then fled.

When an officer chased him, Clay pointed the weapon at him, and the officer fired at Clay, injuring him. The other officer chased another man with Clay, until Clay began firing at the first officer.

Prosecutors requested a $500,000 cash bond on Clay.
