Felipe Caballero
KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
A Kansas City man has been charged in the Monday shooting of a man who remains paralyzed from his injuries, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced.
Felipe Caballero, 22, faces charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action.
According to court records, police found late on Monday two men suffering from gunshot wounds near St. John and Oakley avenues in the Northeast area of Kansas City. The man paralyzed by his injuries told police that Caballero pointed a handgun at him, so he turned to run. Then Caballero shot him in the back and continued to fire at the victim as he crawled on the ground on his stomach.
The shooting happened just after 7 p.m.
Authorities were hoping that surveillance video from a nearby liquor store would help them find the shooter.
Prosecutors requested Caballero's bond be set at $200,000.
