OLATHE, KS (KCTV) -
A thrift store employee is recovering after being stabbed multiple times during a robbery.
Police responded to an aggravated robbery at the MAJ-R Thrift Discount Store, located at 875 South Parker St. in Olathe, just before 6 p.m. Sunday.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a woman, who works at the thrift store, bleeding heavily. She was rushed to an area hospital and is expected to be OK.
The woman told police was approached by a man with a knife who demanded money from her. Before she had a chance to respond, the man cut her multiple times.
Officers arrested a 26-year-old man who was found walking nearby. Police haven't released his name yet. He was booked into the Johnson County Jail, where he will remain pending a court appearance.
Lenny Meschino lives in the area and shops at the thrift store often with his two young children. He says he hates seeing police tape in his neighborhood.
"We live on the west side of Olathe, and this is our neighborhood. It is pretty quiet and peaceful, but when something like this happens, it just really bothers me," Meschino said. "I am really happy to see that we got one less person off the street. Hopefully we don't have to have any other situations like this, and I am glad it got resolved real quick. It makes me feel safer in my neighborhood.
Olathe police continue to investigate and ask anyone with information to call the Olathe Police Department at 913-971-6950 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
