Fanatics wait in line for iPhone 5 release

LEAWOOD, KS (KCTV) -

It's been a long night for dozens of Apple fans in Leawood, KS.

A group started camping out at the store off 119th Street and Roe Avenue on Thursday afternoon, trying to get their hands on the new iPhone 5.

Most people came prepared, packing air mattresses, cots and tents to stay warm.

The store released the latest phone at 8 a.m. Friday.

Those KCTV5 spoke with said they actually had fun camping out all night long.

"It's an experience. I came out for the iPad 3, sat out all night. My kids came out and met some new people, it was great," Marty Levine said.

The new phone boasts a larger screen and faster processing speeds. The basic model with a two-year plan will run you $199.
