ST. FRANCISVILLE, LA (WAFB) -
A man is behind bars at the West Feliciana Parish Detention Center with quite possibly, the highest bond the parish has ever seen.
Adam Lovett, 29, has been behind bars since last Thursday and is being held on a $1 million bond. He is charged with attempted second degree murder. He is accused of threatening his girlfriend after she took out a restraining order against him. Deputies say Lovett sent her a text message that he was going to "murk" her; which is slang for murder. He even put part of his plan on Facebook.
"On his phone he had text some people told them he was going to kill this girl. We believe his intentions were to walk up to that house and shoot her and shoot himself," said West Feliciana Parish Sheriff Austin Daniel.
Sheriff Daniel says Lovett's girlfriend moved to St. Francisville from Denham Springs to get away from him. Thursday, a deputy spotted a car parked in front of a home in St. Francisville, where she was staying.
The Sheriff says his Deputy became suspicious after the driver of the car told him he was having car trouble on his way to the casino with his mother, who was also in the car. The problem with that story is his car was headed in the opposite direction of the casino. The deputy also noticed a handgun under the seat and called for backup.
Two loaded guns were found under the seat of the vehicle.
Deputies identified Lovett and ran a background check on him. That is when they found out he was a convicted felon. During the investigation, deputies found Lovett's Facebook page, where the Sheriff says he had posted messages telling his friends goodbye and to "watch me on the news."
Sheriff Daniel says his deputy did more than just good police work, "I just know that this deputy saved this girls life," he said.
The sheriff says the woman was inside the house when all this happened. Deputies are investigating whether or not Lovett's mother knew what was going on.
