INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -
A 45-year-old Independence man is dead after a collision with a KCP&L utility truck.
Police identified the motorcyclist as Willie J. Clark.
The wreck happened about 9:15 p.m. Sunday on U.S. Highway 24 east of Sterling Avenue.
Authorities said the crash happened when a motorcycle, which was heading east on U.S. Hwy. 24, struck the utility truck that was making a left turn from a private drive at a shopping center on the southeast corner of the intersection.
Clark was transported by ambulance to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the utility truck was not injured. Authorities said he was interviewed at police headquarters and has been released pending further investigation.
The crash remains under investigation.
