INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -

In a matter of moments, three young girls lost their father. The deadly shooting happened years ago, but still no arrests have been made.

Now, the youngest daughter is speaking out the week of the anniversary of her father's death, as she's still desperately seeking closure.

It's a day she'll never forget. A teenage girl comes home to find her family's house surrounded in police tape and her father shot dead in his front lawn.

Police are no closer to finding out who pulled the trigger.

Crime scene tape and a neighborhood swarming with police officers was the scene those many years ago. A frantic neighbor called police, who found 45-year-old Jeff Barr dead.

His youngest daughter keeps his pictures front and center in her apartment. She tries to remember the good times, but knows the memories of the worst day of her life will never fade.

"[An officer] told me my dad was gone and wasn't coming back, and I dropped to the ground," Tabatha Barr said.

Tabatha Barr is frustrated with a lack of progress in the case. She said not knowing what led to her father's death is the hardest part.

"I just want to know what happened, who did it and why," she said.

Tabatha Barr admits her dad was involved in drugs, but said that shouldn't stop her and her two sisters from getting closure and justice.

"People probably think it's just another drug dealer off the street. It's not; that's my dad. It's not fair. It wasn't fair," she said.

Now, Tabatha Barr is making an impassioned plea, hoping anyone with information will speak out to help solve the case she describes as a black cloud hanging over her family.

"Please just come forward and say something. He was a good man and didn't deserve that. Not at all," she said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474- TIPS. The call can remain completely anonymous.
