Injury accident leads to slowdowns on Interstate 470

LEE'S SUMMIT, MO (KCTV) -

Traffic backed up on Interstate 470 in Lee's Summit because of an injury accident Friday morning.

The two-vehicle crash happened about 10:35 a.m. on I-470 northbound near Strother Road. The first crash involved an overturned tractor trailer.

The Missouri Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The extent of the injuries remains unknown.

Lee's Summit police officers are assisting with traffic control. Traffic on both sides of the highway is slow. Motorists are urged to avoid the area.

Two more accidents occurred on southbound I-470 in the backup.
