KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
The Jackson County medical examiner is including the death of a 75-year-old man who went missing when he walked away from his Northland assisted living facility in July as the latest heat-related death.
George Macias went missing from Cherry Hills Nursing Home in July. His body was found at the bottom of a creek in August. The cause of death was drowning, but the Kansas City Health Department said heat was a contributing factor.
Macias had dementia and Alzheimers.
This is the tenth confirmed heat death in the metro this year.
