Family remembers homicide victim of rolling gun battle

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A rolling gun battle killed an innocent man. Friday night his family gathered to remember the son and father they said had goals.

Dozens of grief-stricken mourners huddled together in the rain at 31st Street & Prospect Ave., holding candles and reflecting on their loss.

"You never had to ask for nothing. He was always there. You could never make him mad. He just had the happiest day no matter what," said Donnie Stucky, Tyree Stucky's brother.

"He had goals. He pressured me to go to school. I finished. He let me stay up all night and use his laptop," said Kim Stucky, Tyree's sister.

A stray bullet hit 27-year-old Tyree Stucky in the head Monday night during a rolling gunfight near East 33rd Street and Jackson Ave. He was not in either vehicle and police said he was not the intended target. The violent death, relatives said, is a complete contradiction from the way he lived, which is why those who knew Tyree Stucky are having a hard time coming to terms with his death.

"I just miss him so much and I don't understand why it was his time to go," said his daughter, Jhirayion Buford. "It's all right everybody. He loves you all and is looking down on you all right now.

No arrests have been made. If anyone has any information on the shooting, they are urged to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
