Cigarette starts house fire

OLATHE, KS (KCTV) -

Quick thinking firefighters were able to save a family's pet in Olathe Thursday.

A cigarette tossed in a wooden flower pot started a fire at a home on West 132nd Place. The flames quickly spread to a deck and then the rest of the house causing about $100,000 in damage.

Firefighters rescued Gracie, the family's Boston terrier.

The family of five and Gracie stayed at a hotel overnight.
