Two people are dead after a triple shooting, and the focus of the investigation is a block from a high school.
Someone called 911 about 11:50 p.m. Wednesday to report a disturbance and the sound of gunshots in the 3200 block of College Avenue near Central Academy of Excellence.
When officers arrived, they found two men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, the other was transported to an area hospital where he died a short time later. They have been identified as 24-year-old Travis C. Pernell and 29-year-old Melvin L. Taylor.
A third man walked to the fire station at Linwood Boulevard and Indiana Avenue suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He is expected to survive.
