KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Firefighters extinguished their third vacant house fire on the same block Thursday morning in a span of three hours.

The latest vacant and previously burned house caught fire about 8 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of East 39th Street and Flora Avenue. It took firefighters about 10 minutes to get the fire under control.

Crews battled two more vacant house fires shortly before 5 a.m. in the 3800 block of Flora Avenue. A firefighter was injured after falling through a hole on the third floor of one of the homes.

The firefighter sustained some cuts and injured his leg. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

There was a family that lived in a home between the two vacant houses that caught fire, but so far they are safe and have not been evacuated.

An arson investigator has been called to the scene.
