KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) -

A man in his 50s died in a fire at a mobile home in Kansas City, KS, Tuesday night.

Firefighters received the call about 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of 75th Terrace and Swartz Road and arrived on the scene within two minutes, but by then it the home was fully engulfed in flames.

Crews were able to contain the fire to the one residence and no surrounding homes were damaged.  No one else was hurt in the fire.

Firefighters say the fire was especially hard because it grew very powerful in just a few minutes.

"With it being a mobile home like this, it has a tendency to hold the heat in because of the metal structure, and the type of structure is made of combustibles in it," Deputy Chief Craig Duke said.

When firefighters got the fire knocked down, crews discovered the man's body inside the home.

"It's pretty tough because I'm pretty good friends with his daughter, it is tough even on me," neighbor Shawn Ellis said.

Firefighters have not said what started the fire or released the victim's name.
