Barking dog saves family from fire

TONGANOXIE, KS (KCTV) -

A father and daughter are crediting a dog with helping them escape from a house fire overnight in Tonganoxie, KS.

The man said he was asleep when he was woken up by his dog barking about 2:30 a.m. Friday. He was able to get himself and his young daughter out safely.

Investigators said the fire started in the basement, but they still don't know what sparked the blaze.
