Authorities: Kansas State football player found safe

Posted: Updated:

Riley County authorities said a Kansas State football player from Arkansas who has not been seen since Wednesday was found safe Friday night.

The Riley County Police Department didn't offer any further explanation other than saying law enforcement safely found him and he is in good physical condition.

The mother of 20-year-old Sam Harvill reported him missing Thursday. He was last seen about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Authorities were especially concerned because of medical issues.

Harvill, originally from Springdale, AK, was a defensive lineman for the Wildcats last season but is no longer on the team's roster, according to the Associated Press.

But Riley County officials in their news release indicated that Harvill was a current student-athlete.

He was believed to be driving a white 2005 Dodge R15 pickup with large tires and black rims.

In a statement, K-State coach Bill Snyder said Thursday, "We are concerned for Sam's safety and welfare. We are in contact with his family and area law enforcement authorities and will continue to assist in any way possible."
